Smart Helmet for Smarter Football

Rugby players will have one more reason to sneer at American football players, if ABC News is right about this new football helmet. It doesn’t just protect players’ heads. It analyzes injuries by sensing the angle and magnitude of blows:

“The whole point of this technology is to measure the severity and location of head impacts, especially those that would otherwise go unnoticed, so that we can better understand when a concussion has occurred,” says Rick Greenwald, CEO of Simbex, a research and product-development company based in Lebanon, NH.

Apparently, it can detect concussions before some players can.
