A cute little dinosaur, about the size of greyhound and just as much built for speed. Which is strange, because on the other end – the snout and teeth – it seems to have been built like an aardvark, for eating termites. How it did this with little forearms, and why it would make sense to have such fast legs to pursue little bitty bugs, is anybody’s guess.

For a while, Alvarezsaurians were classified as the world’s first flightless bird, but now it’s considered a bird-like dinosaur. Somewhere between an ostrich and an anteater, from the age of the velociraptors.
