
This is a southern elephant seal, the largest marine mammal that isn’t a whale. They’re about twice as weighty as a northern elephant seal. They loll about South Georgia Island, the Malvinas/Falklands, Macquarie Island, and a few other southerly spots when not hunting in the icy waters around Antarctica.
